of the bay only going to be about 63 degrees in san francisco. so this cooling trend continues into the weekend. we'll show you a look at your seven-day forecast coming up. in the meantime we're hitting the roads with gianna. >> thank you. we are getting first reports of some major bart delays. this is due to a maintenance vehicle stuck on the tracks happening at the oakland station in the fremont millbrae directions due to the disabled vehicle stuck on the tracks. no word when they will clear it. but again, this is going to be a very busy day for bart. we have a lot going on this weekend here in san francisco with america's cup, fleet week, the closures at howard and third so we'll keep you posted on this. the rest of mass transit is on time. ace, muni, caltrain, ferries, no delays. a busy day in san francisco. howard street remains closed at 3rd. so that's been a very congested area. again, bart is a very good alternate so hopefully things will get back on tract. we'll check the bridges in a few minutes. back to you. >>> flyball, center field, coco, ballgame, western division! >>

weekend in san francisco. me wearing black clothing allegedly blocked traffic -- people wearing black clothing allegedly blocked traffic and vandalized businesses in the afternoon. officers were hit by flares and paint and rocks. police believe some were involved in similar activity in the mission district earlier. >>> an "occupy" rally continues now in san jose. a small group has been camped out in front of san jose city hall since sunday afternoon. it's the first overnight protest since the "occupy" movement was evicted last year. members say they will stay there until noon today. >>> president barack obama comes back to san francisco today for his final bay area appearance before next month's election. the president spending the night in southern california in l.a. after an appearance before a roomful of stars last night and he used their performances to make light of his own in last week's debate. here he is. >> they just perform flawlessly night after night, uhm, i can't always say the same. two shots into that undercover officer's car. san francisco police say this all started at 1:30 a.m. an undercover officer was shot at multiple times from a moving car. pd says the car had three suspects inside. the officer chased them to the 2500 block here of bryant street. that's when the three suspects jumped out of the car and ran away. the officers did catch up with one suspect and then police at the time set up a perimeter to try and find the other two. now, when ee got here about 10 minutes after we arrived, they were able to take down the crime tape. we watched officers search that suspect or the suspects' vehicle and tow it away. we know now this is an ongoing investigation and hope to have more information throughout the morning. live in san francisco, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >>> new this morning, police in oakland are trying to find three home invasion robbery suspects overnight on coral road. police say the suspects were armed. so far authorities are not saying what was stolen. >>> the giants beat the tigers last night 8-3. what a night in game one. a little luck includin

. today a couple of degrees cooler. we are starting out very mild out the door. san francisco is 68 degrees right now. that's hard to believe. 63 degrees in livermore. 62 in san jose. as we head toward the afternoon, again, it is going to be hot in spots about 97 degrees in morgan hill. 93 san jose, east bay temperatures again pushing triple digits in some areas, maybe a couple of degrees cooler but not by much. 100 degrees in antioch. livermore 100. 89 in oakland, 92 degrees hayward, more on your weather coming up plus a major cooldown heading our way. more on that in a few minutes. >>> new this morning, police in oakland are looking into a pair of deadly shootings overnight. both happened last night on macarthur boulevard. it first happened on the 9000 block just before 9:00. a man was shot several times there. he died at the scene. the other was about an hour and a half later on the 2000 block same street macarthur boulevard. that mac also died at the scene. so far there are no suspects in either of those shootings. >>> later this morning, the superintendent of a school district

city hall rotunda in san francisco to remember ambassador chris stevens. stevens was killed last month in an attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya. among those at yesterday's memorial service were mayor ed lee and senator dianne feinstein. the libyan ambassador to the u.s. expressed his government's regret. >> we're very sorry. you send us one of your best diplomats, but unfortunate will not be able to protect him. >> friends said stevens was a good diplomat because he was interested in the lives of the libyan people. during his service, his younger sister ann said his optimism inspired her to learn about the middle east. chris stevens was a graduate of piedmont high school and uc- berkeley. >>> 5:07. overnight sections of america's cup catamaran were towed back to shore. the 72-foot boat flipped over drifted out through the golden gate and broke into pieces. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran over at pier 80 headquarters of team oracle with more. cate. >> reporter: frank, oracle team usa says this is a big setback for them and it appears that their boat was a complete loss and sai

will san francisco get to host the super bowl in the near future? >> the nfl is expected to answer that question today. melissa harrington is live at the 49ers new stadium to explain. >> reporter: we are not just talking about any super bowl. they want to host super bowl 50, a huge event for the nfl including more than a week of celebration. all the festivities would happen in san francisco but the stadium 40 miles down the road would host the game. only one super bowl has been held in the bay area and that was in 1985 at stanford stadium. the mayor and 49ers have been quietly working on this bid and submitted an application in august. today the nfl is expected to announce which cities are in the run for the 2016 and 2020 super bowls. they will formally submit a host city plan on may 7th, then two weeks later the city makes a presentation to the 32 nfl owners. we still won't know for sure whether or not they will be a host city till later next year. at least today we'll know if they are in the running. >> thank you. the giants now face a deficit in the national league championship

video from earlier. san francisco police say this all began at around 2:00 this morning just a few blocks from here at ellis and laguna. that's when officers say they were trying to pull over a car for a broken license plate light. and that is when the suspect's car tried to get away. not only that, they believe that the suspect or suspects fired shots on officers. as they tried to catch up to this car at eddy and franklin there was a crash with a cab. after that the suspects tried to run away. police arrested the passenger of the car but one man is still on the loose. they believe it is the driver of the car. it's still an active scene, officers gathering evidence from the taxi and the car. right now they have the passenger in custody. they want to gather more information as time progresses at this time. they set up a perimeter to look for the suspect but said it's such a wide area. they did take that down. these suspects are not from san francisco but other than that we only know that they are two males and we are still waiting for more information. live in san francisco, cate ca

so. world series starting at 5:07 tonight right here in san francisco. the giants are at home against the detroit tigers. we have live team coverage this morning. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran tells you how to avoid the traffic headaches. brian hackney is at at&t park. the back side of the stadium this is where you can come if you want to watch a few innings of the game for free. we are expecting it to line up to you. the infield is covered up here behind me. they have been taking precautions and getting the field ready for today as the rain continues to fall right now at the park. we are ready for game one which starts at 5:07 p.m. now, over the past 24 hours, crews have been sprucing up willie mays plaza and inside the giants dugout store. fans are going wild for any orange and black. now, as for getting inside the park, we have been monitoring some of the ticket selling websites. the average price for a ticket for games one and two is $700. $300 to $400 for standing room only. you have to beware of the counterfeit tickets. >>> more and more counterfeit tickets are surfacing. you can

livermore. 66 in san jose. 62 in san francisco and about 60 degrees in pacifica with some partly cloudy skies there. as we look toward the next couple of days we are going to warm up saturday. sunday looks nice, 80s popping in the valleys. weak system drops in on monday that may bring clouds and hold the temperatures down but after that, we could very well see those offshore winds kicking in. if that happens, maybe temperatures back into the upper 80s, maybe low 90s as we head into thursday. 60s maybe near 70 degrees out toward the coastline. >> let's check the roads with elizabeth. >> fire crews are on scene at west portal. we are hearing one alarm. we are gathering more information and give you more in a little bit. live look at traffic sensors on highway 4 westbound and eastbound so far looks okay antioch and concord. elsewhere live look at the golden gate bridge. they may have picked up roadwork at the span southbound 101 from the north tower towards the toll plaza. i saw some lane change crews earlier so we have more southbound 101 lanes open towards doyle drive. so lawrence

world between 3rd and 4th in san francisco. that's a check of your "timesaver traffic." let's go over and talk more about the forecast. all anyone has been talking about lately is this heat. >> those hot temperatures, very nice. what's nice is it comes and goes this time of year and it's headed out of town, temperatures cooling down a bit around the bay area today. outside right now a mild start to the day. a little hazy approaching the coastline but mostly clear. these temperatures still in the 50s and 60s. by the afternoon, it will stay hot inland. those temperatures up in the 90s, but the triple digits are gone. a lot of 70s inside the bay. you recall see some 80s in toward the santa clara rally and 60s and 70s out toward the coastline maybe some patchy fog moves in late in the day. this ridge of high pressure finally showing signs of weakening somewhat. the fog and low clouds starting to gather a little further to the south with a sea breeze, should begin to move in along the san mateo county coastline a little later on today and much cooler weather. computer models pick up o

. more of that coming up. >> pretty big conference coming in san francisco. big road closure. tell you what it is coming up. >> good morning. it's monday october 1st . i'm michelle griego. >> i'm frank mallicoat. >> temperatures today could reach triple digits and may have been a factor in the death of an elderly woman. kate has more. >> reporter: good morning. that's right. police say they don't know what caused her death but heat may be a factor. with days like these you want to be careful if you are an elderly person or a child. these are the days you are most vulnerable. the bay area quality is reaching unhealthy levels. it is spare the air day. that means the air quality is poor. residents should reduce drivering. these are the days you want to take advantage of public transit, carpool or bike to work. people with respiratory problems need to be particularly careful. officials say they are vulnerable during these times. we have a couple tips for you to stay cool. one, obviously, drink fluid and don't wait until you are thirsty. stay away from alcoholic drinks or sugary drinks. the

so everything is good to go into san francisco. never really caused a delay because it is still early only 5:15 this morning. elsewhere, to our maps, some of our other areas of roadwork have been picked up now that it's past 5:00. westbound 580 heating up through the altamont pass and livermore but your drive time still only about 15 minutes. elsewhere highway 4 another spot usually our first spot to see brake lights a little bit of changing color on our sensors not much still looks good through antioch and the pittsburg-bay point area so this would be a good time to leave. otherwise oakland as of course we have been talking about it all morning long, they play first pitch at 6:37 p.m. so could cause some traffic tie- ups for the evening commute. but for right now, that roadwork overnight on northbound 880 up towards downtown oakland that's actually been picked up a little ahead of schedule so now northbound and southbound 880 flowing nicely between downtown and hayward. to the marin county commute and southbound 101 is nicely flowing across the golden gate towards doyle drive.
